In this video I am tackling the untidy pond edges where the black pond liner is showing. I've used coir matting from a company called Habitat Aid Ltd who provide lengths of woven coir, stuffed with more coir fibres and a tray of suitable plug plants. I'll talk about how the pond was built and show you how I installed this coir matting.
Over time, I'm hoping the irises, lesser spearwort, marsh marigold, soft rush, water mint, and water plantain will create a natural green edge. It is a long term solution, but I am patient!
It's such a simple way to soften the edges and encourage more wildlife too. I'm excited to see how this will settle into the pond area over time.
