TMNT: Shredder's Revenge - Arcade Mode - Gnarly 1CC (Casey Jones)

TMNT Shredder's Revenge is finally out! This is a brand new beat 'em up developed by Tribute Games, which was heavily inspired by Konami's classic arcade games, and the early 90s era of the series. I grew up on this stuff, so it's nostalgic seeing all of the references to the cartoon, movies, and games. They packed so much into it, that they ended up with a run time of nearly 2 hours, making this one of the longest beat 'em ups I've ever played. That'll be somewhat polarizing, but I don't mind the length, personally.

Gnarly is the name for this game's hard mode. The normal difficulty is very easy to clear, and while Gnarly seemingly had very minor adjustments, it's quite a bit more difficult. From what I can tell they basically make you take twice as much damage, and bosses have twice as much health. I think some enemies also move faster or can be more aggressive, but I'm not really sure tbh. Still, you get 1UPs every 200 points, so you've got a lot of breathing room for mistakes.

Casey is unlocked after finishing Story Mode. He's really good, too. It's hard to pick who the best character in the game is, but he's probably in the running. I think his only downside is that he's a little bit slower than some of the other characters, and his taunt seems to take a little bit longer (not sure, but Casey is the only character I've had trouble taunting Slash with - which isn't a big deal). Other than that he's got really effective combos with no annoying knockback or knockdown properties on them, and he deals good damage. He's a beast.

Anyway, this is a great game and I'll be playing it a lot more. If you're a fan of the classic turtles, you have to play this. It was made for you!

Shredder's Revenge is available on all major platforms, including Xbox/PC Game Pass.

On a side note, I think I've figured out a good strategy for Captain Zorax. You can basically see it in this video, though I have a better understanding of what to do now. Chrome Dome can also be annoying, but I think a no death clear should be coming soon. Maybe with my Donatello or Splinter runs. If I screw it up with them, I'll get it done with one of my favorite characters.
