In the year 2000, Madhya Pradesh was bifurcated into two states creating a newly formed state i.e Chhattisgarh. This was a long term disaster for M.P as most of the mineral and coal rich areas, the industrial towns etc. went in the hands of Chhattisgarh, and it was a huge revenue loss for them as M.P was stripped off of its great economic revenue. Coming in 2018, this state still lags behind the other mentioned states for various reasons like: Poor performance in the agricultural sector inspite of being an agricultural state. Madhya Pradesh is basically an agricultural state and instead of innovating itself, the state adopted a policy for importing techniques and production methods. In the recent years, the growth of irrigation in this state increased meagerly from 5% to 24% only. The another problem that this state is facing is pest attacks which is leading to high crop damage as well as huge spending on insecticides and chemical fertilizers leading to the miserable condition of the farmer. Talking about farmers, A survey by the National Sample Survey Organisation on the indebtedness of farmers shows that out of the 64 lakhs farmers in Madhya Pradesh 32 lakhs are in debt
