In this lecture, I have discussed the different types of Maxillary major connectors used in removable partial denture (RPD).

- Major connectors are a very integral part of a removable partial denture. They unite the two sides of RPD and inurn providing the cast partial denture with strength and rigidity.
- As it is very crucial for the removable partial denture (RPD) to extend to both sides of the arch to have an optimum and stable design.
- Major connectors can divided based on their design, and both, maxillary major connectors, as well as mandibular major connectors have different types of major connector designs.
- Maxillary Major connectors can be divided into six basic types, the Palatal bar ,the Palatal strap, the Anterior posterior palatal bar ,the Anterior posterior palatal strap, the horse shoe shaped or also known U-shaped palatal connector, and the palatal plate type connector.
