One of Guyanese popular pastry.The flakey crust and delicious sweet pineapple filling can be enjoyed as a snack or dessert.

This recipe will give about 12 medium size pastries.

Ingredients :
For the filling:
1 medium pineapple cut into small pieces (or 2 cans of crushed pineapple)
1 whole cinnamon stick
1 TBS almond or vanilla essence
1/2 of a lemon juice
1/3 cup of sugar( can use more if desire)

For the crust:
2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup cup of salted butter( if using unsalted then add 1/4 tsp of salt)
1/2 cup of shortening
1 egg
about 1/4 Cupid ice cold water

Bake at 350 degree F for about 15min or until golden brown
