Walking Awa Odori Festival with Powerful Drums and Rhythmic Dance | Tokushima, Japan 4K

Описание к видео Walking Awa Odori Festival with Powerful Drums and Rhythmic Dance | Tokushima, Japan 4K

The Awa Odori is Japan's biggest dancing festival, held every year during the Obon summer holiday in August. The festival is a lively affair, with over a million visitors flooding the small city on the island of Shikoku. The streets are packed with spectators watching teams of dancers accompanied by drum and flute perform for hours in the sweltering midsummer heat. The action is spread throughout central Tokushima, with formal performances on the main streets, loose drum and dance circles on side streets and covered shopping areas, and people everywhere. I thought it would be interesting to try and capture the atmosphere and ambiance of the festival by walking through and taking a look at different areas. As usual, the sights and sounds are presented without commentary. I hope you get a taste of what it might be like to attend this lively event and enjoy a bit of drum and dance as well, I certainly did.
