Thanks to its ability to form a strong and reinforcing sub-structure, everX Posterior opens up new possibilities, including restorations of cavities where inlays and onlays would usually be indicated: cavities with 3 surfaces or more to be restored, with missing cusps, deep cavities (including class I, II and endodontically treated teeth) or cavities after amalgam replacement (especially since amalgam placement often leads to crack initiation and cusp fracture). Cracks are a common issue with composite and amalgam fillings, often starting as a result of thousands of repetitive bites, at the surface of the material and propagating through the filling and the teeth. The short fibres prevent and arrest crack propagation, thereby avoiding catastrophic failures and allowing further repair of the restorations. Thanks to the cross-linked fibres, the fracture toughness of everX Posterior is equivalent to dentin and almost double that of other composites, bringing unsurpassed strength to the restoration. This makes everX Posterior the ideal dentin replacement, especially in large preparations. Increments of 4 mm can be cured simultaneously, reducing procedure time. It can be reliably bonded to any overlaying composite as well as to the tooth substance. Thanks to the fibre-reinforced composite everX Posterior, the indications of composites can be extended beyond the limits of direct restorations. Hence, it is the answer to the growing demand for an economic solution to restore large cavities.
