Strumming for Beginners | Part 4: Combo Strumming Patterns

If strumming is your top challenge on the ukulele, you are not alone! It is the number one thing my students come to me with, and through teaching my beginner group classes and private lessons, I've put together this method of learning strumming that builds a strong foundation in rhythm, to help you be a more confident player. In Part 4 we learn a D DU D DU strumming pattern built on quarter notes and eighth notes. (This is great preparation for the island strum, as it is only one stroke different!) If you're following along on the worksheet, it's line 5.

We will also once again explore using this strumming pattern with She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain.

[Note]- I had tilted my camera up for this one in order to have a better view of my dry erase board, however it does cut off my wrist partially when I'm talking about continuously moving your wrist to play 8th notes You can still mostly see what I'm doing though.... my apologies for not being able to see my entire hand!
