In this video I show you how to build a space saving village setup for your Christmas village display. Each year we alternate our Christmas village due to whether we want another tree in our loft or not. This year we are displaying our Christmas village by Department 56 North Pole Heritage Series. The links for products used in this video are below. I start out using 1 3/4 inch plywood sheet from my local hardware store. I need to extend my village outwards from the typical shelf width that is on my bookcases. I measured prior for the cuts I will need with cardboard and then cut my shapes out with my jigsaw to install on my shelves. I am not nailing or drilling into our bookshelves. This is a temporary setup for the Holidays only. I am using clamps also purchased at the hardware store to hold my boards temporarily in place during the Christmas season. Once I have all of my boards in place I put on my quilt batting or stuffing down on the boards. The quilt batting was purchased at Walmart and was a good price. The long skinny shaped batting was purchased on Amazon and was perfect for the shelf length and width that I need and saved a ton of time. Once we have that in place we are using the night sky paper that I also purchased on Amazon. This gave us a night sky background that I cut to fit in the back of my shelves. I secured them to the back of my shelves with painters tape that is easily removable. I then show you how I run my chords for power to the villages and then how I hid them. After we are all finished of course I show you all around. The afterthought on this project was to add blue LED lights to the back under the snow and what it did was amazing! It gives it that night sky look that brings the village to life. We hope this helps you when you are in a tight space and need space saving ideas for your Christmas village display.
