We survived the most gruelling route to Adam's Peak! (Dehenakanda-Mukkuwatta route)

Dehenakanda Mukkuwatta route to Adam's Peak is not a commonly used route and there are no stairs to climb like we have in Rathnapura and Hatton routes. This is a route that is paved through peak wilderness and it is approximately 15km to the top compared to the 5km through the Hatton route, the most commonly used route.

We went in November, which turned out to be a tough time to take on this challenge as it almost constantly rained towards the latter part of the day.

After about 16 hours of hiking through the jungle through the course of 2 days, we finally arrived at the top on the second day at around 3.30pm. We descended from the Hatton route and found accommodation at a nearby guest house.

This is the most exhausting and the most challenging route to Adam's peak which people seldom attempt even during the season. Therefore, take precautions when attempting this route!
