Infected Receding Veins Tutorial | After Effects + No Plugins

How to make your veins look infected and recede back into your skin. I was struggling to find a tutorial where this effect worked. Film riot has a great tutorial but I noticed I, along with a lot of other commenters, were stumped at one part that did not seem to work, so I did some troubleshooting and found my own solution.
