This tune is also a song but it sounds great as an instrumental piece. The chords progression is a turn-around ("round robin tune" like Merle said in an interview) Originally, we think it was written by Amos Johnson, then taught to Mose Rager, who played it for Merle Travis.... I transcribed it at the begining of the 90' from several Merle Travis' versions I heard in my Travis vinyls and also in some unpublished Travis version from collector tape. I also added my own variations in the version you can see here. I taught this tune in my book with audio lessons called "The guitar of Merle Travis - Guitar rag " published by Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop in the 90. This book is still available thru my own guitar workshop.

J'ai transcris "Guitar rag" d'après plusieurs versions de Merle Travis, c'est aussi une chanson Sa structure harmonique de type "anatole ", avec accords de passage de dominante secondaire sonne très jazz-swing, ce qui en fait un morceau instrumental sur lequel on peut s'amuser aisément ... Au fil du temps j'ai ajouté mes propres variations et autre improvisations (selon la forme!). Ce morceau est disponible en leçon audio avec tab/solfège dans ma méthode "The Guitar of Merle Travis Vol 2- Guitar rag", synthèse des différente versions vinyle et même d'une version inédite de Merle Travis entendue sur une cassette qui me fût donnée à l'époque par un collectionneur... Ce "recueil-méthode" avec support audio a été publiée dans les années 90 chez "Stefan Grossman Guitar Workshop". Elle est toujours en vente à mon atelier de guitare. Keep on pickin' Michel Lelong
