A Trip to Japan Inspired This Couple to Bring Authentic Ramen to Oklahoma | Oklahoma Originals

Tamashii Ramen House, founded by Matthew & Wakana Sebacher, brings the authentic flavors of Japanese ramen from Okinawa to Oklahoma. Wakana was born and raised in Okinawa, Japan. She moved to Oklahoma to study business in 2005 and met Matthew in 2010 after he returned from military deployment in Iraq. That same year, they took a trip to Japan where Matthew tasted authentic ramen for the first time – an experience he would never forget. Four years later, that trip inspired the couple to open a restaurant in Oklahoma City. Matthew traveled back to Japan and, with the help of Wakana's family, learned the age-old methods and techniques used to create ramen, ensuring they could recreate the perfect ramen experience for locals and visitors alike.
