STOICISM & TAOISM TO BALANCE EXTREME MINIMALISM ☮️ ☯️

There can be many extremes within minimalism. A large polarisation of the topic is the idea that minimalists, if stoic, should not allow any feelings to overtake their being. Any feelings, should be immediately brushed off and let go of. As the letting in of emotions and feelings, could lead to an uncontrolled or unwanted emotion. I can see how with this process, opinion arises that, minimalists are spartan like. With their sparse barren unloved homes. Many of the homes of extreme minimalists would seem to largely elude to this doctrine. The paradox is that whilst this may be the case sometimes, but not ALL. The oppositional axis is that some zen like minimalists feel everything but are attached nothing. Not to, have nothing and feel nothing. These sentient types are sensual and can enjoy the material worlds’ presence, but don't need things to complete them or their existence.

I would argue that it is in 'feeling', that true joy is experienced. One of the now cliché mantra's of minimalism was to 'spark joy'. But how do we spark joy if we can't spark anything. With FIRE, comes passion. We need simply kindle the fire, not dowse its flames. For out of the flames rises a phoenix of light.

Experience, feel, balance your heart and mind. How can we be 'light' if we choose to close the door, and sit in the dark. Let the light in… Light is life and life grows.
