Sprint Training Sessions: Hurdle Hip Mobility Warm Up

Описание к видео Sprint Training Sessions: Hurdle Hip Mobility Warm Up

We have reintroduced hurdle walk-overs as part of our warm-up routine during our winter off-season training period. It has gone a long way to improving overall hip mobility and limb range of motion for our training sessions and is noticeable in our acceleration work and power development. On average we are going over 6-8 hurdles with 6 reps per exercise (3 reps per lead leg). So this may work out to as many as 18x through our flight of hurdles.

This is an activity that I performed as an athlete but got away from it in latter years as a coach. Obviously you need access to hurdles which can be a constraint. But even using basic PVC hurdles that are easy to transport and range in height from 18 to 30 inches can be useful.

The problem with new techniques is that it sometimes makes you strip away proven methods to make room. I often go back and review old videos or programs of our training and make sure I maintain consistency with the protocols that worked and added value. It's always good to do internal audits of your process and your components.
