How to Play the Very High Notes on Alto Saxophone Volume 2

This tutorial builds on the content contained in Volume 1 of the series and takes the player through the fingerings and process required to be able to play G sharp and A above High C on the alto saxophone.

Close up video of standard and alternate fingerings makes it easier for the viewer to observe the best choice of fingerings to use when playing both chromatic and major scales. The new altissimo notes are used in a simple melody and various scales including two octave A flat major, A major and A chromatic scales.

The importance of doing the prerequisite exercises is stressed to avoid disappointment and possible injury to the lips if the extreme high notes are attempted without prior muscle development.

Reference is made to the exercises prescribed in the How to Build Embouchure Strength for Wind Players tutorial, together with the content covered in Volume 1 of this series as being prerequisite requirements prior to attempting to play the new altissimo G sharp and A notes.
