The new coalition formed by the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress to run the government has reached a seven-point agreement that advocates for political stability. The agreement mentions giving priority to issues like forming a national consensus government, making necessary amendments to the constitution, and formulating laws accordingly.

The coalition has also pledged to end the existing economic slowdown, create a reliable business environment, and boost economic activities. It has also committed to encouraging domestic and foreign investment and creating sufficient and dignified employment opportunities within the country.

However, the newly formed KP Oli-led government has neither taken the issue of forming a national consensus government seriously nor has it been able to clearly state what the necessary amendments to the constitution for stability are. It remains to be seen what policy reforms the government will undertake to revive the economy apart from trying to take the private sector into confidence.

It is also unclear how the money piled up in banks will flow into the market and how an investment environment will be created. The government's stance on implementing the Chinese development project BRI is also awaited.

The new fiscal year has begun along with the implementation of the 16th five-year plan. The outgoing government's budget has to be implemented. It remains to be seen how the current government will take these two forward. How will the CPN-UML, which was not satisfied with the budget brought by the government in which it was itself involved, implement the same budget?
