Zpryme and ETS were proud to make Dr. John B. Goodenough of The University of Texas at Austin the distinguished special guest for ETS15. The man who brought us the lithium-ion battery at the age of 57 shared the stage in a fireside chat with Andrew Johnston ETS president on March 15th. Dr. Goodenough candidly discussed his views on the technological and scientific leaps of energy and career in the technology space.

Dr. Goodenough joined the Cockrell School of Engineering in 1986 on retirement from the University of Oxford, England. Before going to England, he spent 24 years at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory as a Group Leader and Research Scientist. He has authored two books and co-authored one. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Sciences; a foreign associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences, L’Academie des Sciences de L’Institut de France, Academia de Ciencias Exactas Fisicas y Naturales of Spain, and the Royal Society of the United Kingdom. Among other awards, he received the prestigious Japan Prize in 2001 and the Presidential Enrico Fermi Award in 2009. Recently, he received two honorary awards for his achievements. He has been named an Honorary Engineer by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas and received the IEEE Medal for Environmental and Safety Technologies.
