FoEhints: Arctic Future – Harbor-Strategy in Forge of Empires

Описание к видео FoEhints: Arctic Future – Harbor-Strategy in Forge of Empires

In the Arctic Future Promethium is needed for research and negotiations at level 4 of the guild expedition. In the following ages even more Promethium is required for research and negotiating provinces on the map.

You only get very little Promethium as a reward for sectors that you conquered. The main source of Promethium is the harbor of the Arctic Future. I already introduced it in a previous video.

For most players the Arctic Harbor simply is a huge machine destroying goods. If you want to send out the ship every day, you will need 150 goods of the Arctic Future every day. Using so many resources you want to get the best result from it. By picking the crew members you can vary many parameters. But which strategy is most successful?

These strategies could be possible:

Strategy 1: Always pick a crew which fetches most Promethium. These are miners, sailors, storepersons, quartermasters, the deckhand Sam and the guard Silas.

Strategy 2: Always pick enough technicians to reduce the ship damage and by this the costs for repair. This could save 50 goods every day.

Strategy 3: Using navigators, sailors or steerspersons you can reduce the duration of each expedition that much that you can send out the ship more than once every day.

Most players will not try strategy 3 as they are already happy having these 150 goods every day to send out the shop once. Spending that much more than once every day is simply more than a normal player's production can provide. Therefore it is better to use efficiency instead of speed.

Strategy 2 first sounds very good, but at the very beginning of the Arctic Future this is simply not realistic. You initially only have 3 crew members and they are absolutely unexperienced. Therefore strategy 2 is something for players who are already in the Arctic Future since long or already advanced to the next era.

Then only strategy 1 is left: Maximize the profit of each expedition

In the beginning of the Arctic Future you are less limited by the amount of forge points than by the lack of Promethium. On the other side it is very good to accelerate the research in the tech tree as with the further development of the Arctic Harbor the profit of each expedition gets much better. Therefore the ship has to be sent out every day to level up the harbor as soon as possible. Then you will receive more Promethium for your goods and more from each expedition.

I always use those crew members who have the best bonus for getting more Promethium. With each expedition the crew member gets more experience and after a while they have better skill levels, improving their bonuses.

After a while you have crew members with so much experience that you will not try to use other team members with their specific bonuses. This will stick you to strategy 1 forever, which is not a bad decision. The investment for advancing the crew members' skill level is payed back soon if you use them again and again. Don't forget that you will still need Promethium in the following eras.

I rarely used the bonus of twins and triplets, as I nearly never got them offered in the same set. There is much more staff than the window can handle, you always only receive a small selection. It never was profitable for me to pay 25 diamonds to get access to the remaining members. I simply used those I got offered in the first or second free set.

But I loved to use those crew members who don't require goods, but medals instead. This reduces the number of goods every day and most players in the Arctic Future have so many medals that they can afford to pay 500.

Now my ship often returns with 100 Promethium and after a complete repair I immediately send it out again with a fresh team.
