The Great Barrier Reef - Is It Worth It? (4K, Insta360 X3)

In early April 2024, we were on the Majestic Princess Queensland Great Barrier Reef Cruise.

We booked an excursion to the Great Barrier Reef from the Airlie Beach stop. Because the Majestic was too large for the port, Princess anchored off the coast of Airlie Beach and used tenders to take passengers ashore. We were lucky, Princess arranged for a catamaran to pick us up directly from the ship for our visit to and from the Great Barrier Reef.

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. It is the world’s largest reef system stretching over 2300 kilometers (1437 miles) in the Coral Sea off the coast of Queensland, Australia.

The Great Barrier Reef has an unparalleled diversity of marine life supporting over 1000 species of fish, coral, mollusks and and other marine organisms.

Tourist operators anchor large floating platforms for visitors to enjoy the reef. We visited the reef by boat transfer, but helicopter transfers are another option which also include a scenic flight.

We chose to snorkel at the reef, but scuba diving and glass bottom boats were other options to explore the reef.
