F-22 Raptor Demo with FLARES! And USAF Heritage Flight 2023 Wings Over Wayne

The F-22 Raptor Demo Team surprises everyone with FLARES at 2023 Wings Over Wayne. Shot on Saturday, May 20.

The F-22A Raptor is the most feared airplane in the world. It boasts a maneuverability demonstration that no other combat ready aircraft in the world can replicate. The demonstration pilot for the 2023 and 2024 seasons is Captain Samuel "RaZZ" Larson. Razz has added an additional pedal turn after the tactical pitch at the end of the routine. Razz didn't do his new maneuver at this show; however, what he DID do was much more interesting.

During the Power Loop, the Raptor dumped flares and carved through the smoke they left behind. This is the first time I have ever seen an ACC Demo jet use flares in person. After the Demo, the F-22A participated in a Heritage Flight with an A-1 Skyraider. The A-1 was piloted by Stuart Milton. To conclude the Heritage portion, RaZZ performed a pedal turn with more flares.

The weather was cloudy in the morning, and it was supposed to be cloudy in the afternoon. Luckily, the clouds completely disappeared so we could see this incredible display!
