In this video I teach you Neo Freudian-Erikson's 'psychosocial Theory which is part BPCC-109 BLOCK-1 UNIT 2. Every stage for Erikson, produces a conflict or a crisis and the resolution or non resolution leads to either positive or negative outcomes. Here's an overview of Erik Erikson's Psychosocial Theory, a Neo-Freudian approach:

Erikson's Psychosocial Theory

Erik Erikson, a German-American psychologist, expanded on Freud's psychosexual theory by proposing a psychosocial theory of development. He emphasized the role of social and cultural factors in shaping individual development across the lifespan.

Eight Stages of Development

Erikson's theory proposes eight stages, each characterized by a unique psychosocial crisis or conflict. Successful resolution of each crisis leads to healthy development, while unresolved conflicts can lead to difficulties in later life.

1. *Trust vs. Mistrust (0-1 year)*: Developing trust and security through consistent caregiving.
2. *Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt (1-3 years)*: Exploring independence and self-control.
3. *Initiative vs. Guilt (3-6 years)*: Taking on responsibilities and asserting oneself.
4. *Industry vs. Inferiority (6-12 years)*: Developing skills and competence.
5. *Identity vs. Role Confusion (12-18 years)*: Exploring and establishing a sense of identity.
6. *Intimacy vs. Isolation (18-40 years)*: Forming meaningful relationships and connections.
7. *Generativity vs. Stagnation (40-65 years)*: Contributing to society and leaving a legacy.
8. *Integrity vs. Despair (65+ years)*: Reflecting on life and finding closure.
Key Concepts

*Psychosocial crisis*: A turning point in development where individuals face a critical choice or conflict.
*Epigenetic principle*: Each stage builds upon previous ones, and successful resolution of earlier crises prepares individuals for later challenges.
*Social and cultural influence*: Erikson emphasized the role of cultural and social factors in shaping individual development.

Erikson's Psychosocial Theory provides a comprehensive framework for understanding human development across the lifespan, highlighting the interplay between individual and societal factors.
