Innocent nieces of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch have told how they will be looking over their shoulders for the rest of their lives.

Speaking for the first time since the brutal Kinahan Hutch feud erupted in 2015, and after a Kinahan cartel gunman was jailed over attempting to kill their Dad John Hutch on Monday - sisters Natalie, Amy, Melissa, Adrienne and Rhonda Hutch revealed:

1. Their relief that “ruthless” gunman Michael Carroll, who tried to kill their father John was jailed for 22 years - and how any of them could’ve been killed

2. How one of them jumped on top of their disabled sister to protect her as Carroll sprayed bullets through their home in September 2016

3.How their father spent the final years of his life effectively a “prisoner in his own home"

4. How their cars were burned out during the height of the feud, and how they now hope it is now finally over.

The sisters, whose brother Gareth was also murdered by the Kinahan cartel, attended the Special Criminal Court on Monday as gunman Michael Caroll was sentenced to 22 years in prison over an attempt to kill their father back in 2016 - and an attempt on a man named Eddie Staunton.

Carroll, who emptied a revolver at John Hutch - a brother of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch - at his home in Drumalee Avenue on September 2, 2016, was originally charged with his attempted murder but instead pleaded guilty to a charge of having in his possession or control a firearm with intent to endanger life, contrary to Section 15 of the Firearms Act, at Drumalee Avenue on the same date.

For that he received 10 and a half years in prison on Monday - and a further consecutive sentence of 12 years for attempting to murder Staunton on the night of March 26, 2017.

Speaking exclusively to the Irish Mirror, his daughter Natalie said the jailing of Caroll was a huge relief. “It just means that he’s off the street now. He can’t do what he done before, which is traumatise families.

“It just means it’s an end to something that we’ve been going through for many years. To think of the damage that he has done and he has been doing for years on behalf of other people to justify his drug behaviour.”

Her sister Rhonda told how Caroll seemed not to have a care in the world as he sprayed bullets over the wall of the family home - narrowly missing their disabled sister and other family members.

“He didn’t care when he put that gun over the wall. There was a disabled child there.”

Their sister Amy, who was in the house when the horror unfolded, told how she dived on top of her disabled sister in an effort to save her from the bullets.

“It was horrible. Horrible. I thought my disabled sister was going to get shot. So I just put my body over her whole body to protect her.

“I just seen fire, fire, fire, bullets, bullets. It probably lasted about 60 seconds. It felt like a lifetime.

“He missed us. And thankfully he missed my Dad as well.” Their terrified mother Vera also ran for her life - darting across the road as Carroll continued to chase her husband - who managed to get to safety.

Natalie told us how Carroll seemingly “didn’t care” about his actions and could have killed any one of her family members that day.
