Why Are We Called South Pole?

Since its founding by an ambitious group of social entrepreneurs in 2006, South Pole has constantly been at the forefront of improving market-based mechanisms to solve climate change.

From the get-go, we wanted to ensure that the pole of our value creation would be in the South of this world - Africa, Asia, and Latin America; places that are typically the hardest and most disproportionately hit by the effects of climate change.

We chose the penguin as our corporate mascot: its natural habitat is South Pole, Antarctica, the last untouched continent and the final frontier of climate preservation.
