Welcome to Day 2, Part 2 of our Bhutan adventure! In this video, we continue exploring the beautiful city of Thimphu, visiting the grand Thimphu Dzong, the bustling local market, a serene walk along the river, and a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the city.

Our Story:
Our afternoon begins with a visit to the majestic Tashichho Dzong, also known as Thimphu Dzong. This impressive fortress and monastery, built in 1641, serves as the seat of the Bhutanese government and houses the throne room and offices of the king. The Dzong is renowned for its stunning architecture, intricate woodwork, and serene courtyards. It opens to visitors after office hours on weekdays and all day on weekends, with an entry fee of Rs 500 per person. Bhutanese people wear traditional attire when visiting Dzongs. Men wear the "Gho" and women wear the "Kira," with different colors signifying various positions and ranks. The "Gho" and "Kira" must be worn with a "Kera" (a belt). Colors and patterns of the "Kabney" (scarf) for men and the "Rachu" (scarf) for women indicate different ranks and statuses. For example, yellow is reserved for the King, orange for ministers, blue for members of parliament, green for judges, and white for ordinary citizens.

Next, we head to the vibrant local market in Thimphu, where you can find a variety of fresh produce, including rice, fruits, vegetables, cheese, and other groceries. The market is a great place to experience the daily life of the locals and indulge in some shopping.

After exploring the market, we take a peaceful walk along the river, enjoying the beautiful flower garden nearby. The tranquil ambiance of the riverbank offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Our next stop is a viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of Thimphu city. The breathtaking scenery from this vantage point provides a unique perspective of the city nestled in the valley, surrounded by lush hills.

As we return to the market, we learn that our guide, Chimi, and our cab service are available only until 6 PM. Chimi assists us in finding a local taxi at a fair rate to return to our stay, ensuring a smooth end to our day.
