Pallette - Whatever Happens, Happens

There is a thread of resignation unifying the work of Japan-based ambient artist Pallette. Often expressed in album titles such as "Memories Fade", "To Live Peacefully" or "What Does it Mean to Lose You" which evoke a certain acceptance of loss, to the very sound of their more minimalistic releases which by their steady, ghostly loops distills a kind of consoling monotony promised to all who take part in the human endeavor.

On "Whatever Happens, Happens", their second release with Vivarium, Pallette continues to indulge these themes with their trademark, understated approach. Ambient wisps act out their patterned haunt before gently dissipating into the negative plane. A bookending field recording grants us a visit into tangible, hallowed space after inhabiting its lonely, ethereal environments, a grounding note of finality to place us back in our own world after a stint in the daydream.
