The village is situated in the hilly region of Meghalaya and is surrounded by lush green fields and dense forests. Children are playing, and women are tending to their crops.
Mawkynrew is home to Mawnongpluh. This Mawnongpluh serves as the community site for the CLLMP project. In the past, residents in Mawnongpluh land would burn and cut down trees, but since the CLLMP project arrived, this practice has been outlawed, and the locals have refused to allow it because they want to improve the area. The interventions that have been implemented at this site are RCC Check dam, CC Canal and Bench Terracing.
