CCTV has been released after a newsagents was robbed at knifepoint in Leigh.

At around 6.05am a man carrying a knife entered a newsagents on Elliot Street, Tyldesley with his face covered.

He demanded cigarettes from the shopkeeper but when they refused, he took three bottles of spirits from the shelves and ran towards Waring Street.

Officers want to speak to the man in the CCTV in connection with the incident.

Police Constable Gary Samosa of GMP’s Wigan Borough, said: “Although the robbery happened early on in the morning, there may have been people in the area who saw something suspicious in the area at that time.

“If you are one of those people who have information or recognise the man in the moving footage either by the way he is carrying himself or what he is wearing, please get in touch with us.”
