Two men threatened a shop worker and made off with money and cigarettes during a robbery in Altrincham.

At 3.40am on Wednesday 21 May 2014, the offenders walked into Altrincham service station on Dunham Road. One of them jumped over the counter and walked over to the staff member.

He threatened him with an imitation firearm, demanding he opened the till before they emptied it.

Cigarettes were also taken from the shelf as well as scratchcards before they left, running across the forecourt along Dunham Road towards Dunham roundabout.

One man is described as being white, in his 20s/30s, around 5ft 9in tall, of slim build, stubbly face, wore a navy blue waterproof jacket with the hood up and faded blue jeans.

The second was white, in his 20s/30s, 5ft 9in tall, of slim build, had crooked teeth, wore a grey hooded top, blue jeans, a black baseball cap and was carrying a black rucksack.

Both spoke with Liverpool accents.

Detective Constable Rebecca Mills said: "The shop worker was simply carrying out his duties when he was threatened and told to open the till. He was not hurt but he was shouted at and did not know whether he would be hurt in anyway.

"After the robbery, both men ran towards a nearby roundabout. We believe they may have got into a car but unfortunately, we have no description of it.

"I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or two men running away from the service station, to contact police."
