Welcome to Episode 28 of Scrabble History, a series where I break down some of the most incredible plays, epic rivalries, and amazing moments in Scrabble's rich competitive history.

Although Scrabble AI is not as advanced or as dominating as AI in other games like chess, it's made huge strides in recent years. In 2006, a one-of-a-kind event was held where the strongest Scrabble AIs squared off against many of the strongest human players in the world. The winning AI's match-clinching play against a former World Champion showcased its amazing new abilities, and heralded the dawn of a new age of Scrabble analysis.
