We often look at a drum and immediately imagine what it should sound like based on the most obvious features, dimensions being the key. Deep drums should sound deep, right? And shallow drums should crank up nice and high, right? But what if the magic was in taking the opposite approach? In Ep. 52 (our final episode of Season 1!), we demonstrate how higher tunings with a deeper drum (a 14x7” Ddrum Vintone Nickel-Over-Brass, in this case) can offer a sound that might be more fitting for your ultra-articulate, high-tuned snare needs.

Drum Used: Ddrum Vintone Nickel-Over-Brass 14x7" with 2.3mm triple flange hoops
Heads: Evans G1 batter // Evans Snare Side 300 (3mil)
Wires: Puresound Custom Pro Steel 24-strand

Hosted by: Cody Rahn
Production: Ben O'Brien Smith @ Cadence Independent Media
