Fan Dance - Winter 2023 Edition (civvie taking on SAS test march / run / ruck / TAB / yomp)

Took on AEE's Fan Dance on 7th January 2023. What a brutal, but beautiful test in the stunning surrounds of the Brecon Beacons.
The 14.1 mile (1,200m climbing) course takes you up and over Pen y Fan, then back again. It is a test march that the British SAS/SBS (et al SF) use as part of their notorious "Hills" phase of selection.
It was hard!! But from that pain and show of grit comes great reward...and a few decent stories too.
I thoroughly recommend anyone takes the challenge on if you get the chance - it is a sure fire way of building your resilience and showing just what you are made and capable of.
My training did not go well (skinned both heels, broke a toe etc), but I still showed up, still gave it a go and, in those most awful of conditions (torrential rain, 50mph winds, waterlogged paths and raging stream crossing) proved to myself what I am capable of....what any of us are capable of if we put our minds to achieving something.
