Zuma corruption pre-trial hearing: Mpumelelo Zikalala weighs in

Judge Nkosinathi Chili has agreed to provide reasons to former president Jacob Zuma's legal team, on why he dismissed the application for the recusal of lead prosecutor - Advocate Billy Downer - in the arms deal corruption case. Acting for Zuma - Advocate Dali Mpofu - told the Pietermaritzburg High Court, that they need the reasons for the ruling in order to apply for leave to appeal the decision not to remove Downer. Zuma and arms manufacturer Thales are being charged with corruption, racketeering, money laundering and fraud. Zuma says Downer is not fit to lead the prosecution because he is not impartial. Judge Nkosinathi Chili will hand down his reasons on the 11th of September. Here's legal analyst, Mpumelelo Zikalala.
