All Coming Back To Me - A Guy and Marian Vid (BBC Robin Hood)

This video has taken an incredibly long time to make, but I'm really glad I persevered with it! The song was suggested to me by a good friend and fellow Meatloaf fan, and although it was a struggle to make the duet version of the song tell the story I initially wanted to tell, I think it works now.

The narrative follows a pretty conventional line; after Marian's death, Guy is plagued with nightmares about their shared past and the way he killed her. He is wracked by images of her, and haunted by her death. But this isn't just a vid from Guy's perspective -- I wanted to give Marian a voice, give her a chance to show she forgives Guy for what he's done (and, of course, get them back together, of sorts!). So while Guy sleeps, Marian haunts him. And the end? Is it a dream, or is it a reality? I'll leave it to you to decide!

I had lots of fun manipping footage for this vid, as I used a variety of sources for it. Of course, there's plenty from the BBC's Robin Hood, but I also borrowed things from Meatloaf's 'All Coming Back to Me' and 'Anything for Love' vids. There is a little bit from Celine Dion's version of 'All Coming Back...' and some footage from 'Legend of the Seeker' and 'Pillars of the Earth' as well. I hope I've integrated them all well enough that it seems convincing! I've tried, through use of chroma keying, to superimpose scenes over scenes to create a kind of 'ghost Marian' effect, and by changing a few backgrounds I wanted to show the power and the passion of the Guy/Marian relationship even more obviously.

I still feel sad that the Guy/Marian relationship ended in the way that it did -- I think Richard Armitage and Lucy Griffiths had a fabulous onscreen chemistry and it was sad to see it end. I have a feeling I will be musing on them for a little while yet!
