This series of videos was filmed at our masterclass sessions held in 2023. We covered 4 topics over 4 weeks and each topic is split into a number of sections.
Here’s part three - Seam, Swing, and Variations

Pace bowling isn’t just about pace, you also need to deceive the batter or bat the bat using movement or changes of pace.

Seam movement is created when the ball lands on the seam. To get the seam to stay upright you need to get the ball back spinning with the seam in position.

Swing comes from one side of the ball moving faster than the other. Angle the seam and learn which finger lets go last to control the direction.

Wobble seam has come to the fore in the last few years, generate back spin but with an angled seam so the ball wobbles in flight and may or may not swing and seam.

Reverse swing comes when one side of the ball gets heavier through moisture or one side gets lighter through abrasion and the heavier side travels slower. This reverses the swing direction from the shiny side explained earlier.

A quick overview of some variations. Experiment and try your own thing, you never know what you might come up with.
