Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of Canada, received her 2 royal salutes on Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa in 1990. Upon arrival on Parliament Hill for her military honours, the royal anthem of Canada, "God Save the Queen" was played before she inspected the guard of honour. After she had finished inspecting, she returned to her dais to receive another royal salute wherein the national anthem of Canada, "O, Canada", was played.

Present in the celebrations were Ray Hnatyshyn, the Governor-General of Canada, and Brian Mulroney, the Prime Minister of Canada.
