Harsha ka tila is the place where Raja Harsha Vardhan was having his palace. After the defeat of the Gupta dynasty all the individual small kings became free and they started to rule their small kingdoms. In order to protect the country from the invaders from outside Raja Prabhakaravardhan started to expand his kingdom by attaching the small kings with him. His sons Rajyavardhan and Harshavardhan expanded the kingdom upto Assam and Chalukya kingdom in South. Harsha changed his capital from Thanesar to Kannauj . He ruled upto CE 647 and his kingdom was very strong and wealthy that time. Many foreign traders came here through silk route to do trade. He provided facilities for the traders to stay and do their business.

Archeological survey of India has done many excavations and found his palaces beneath the earth. Many pots and ornaments and coins had discovered from here.
