How to upgrade to a Limited Slip Differential and 3.55 rear gears

Описание к видео How to upgrade to a Limited Slip Differential and 3.55 rear gears

This is one of those modifications I should have made earlier, the car is immediately more fun to drive and to tuning was needed.
My car had the stock open diff with 2.80:1 gears and a leaky pinion shaft seal. I knew I needed to address the leaky seal and since I had to disassemble most of the third member to get to it, I figured I might as well upgrade the internals too. I went with a Quick Performance package that included a 3.55:1 ring gear and a Traction-Loc limited slip differential. All the required bearings and hardware was included too.
I also needed to upgrade the speedo gear in the transmission. It's a good thing too, because someone put a RH gear in there when a LH gear is needed.

Third Member package: Quick Performance, FORD 8" / TRACTION-LOC / RING & PINION GEAR / BEARING KIT / PACKAGE
20T LH Speedometer Gear from NPD
Lucas Oil 80W-90 Gear Oil (just under 2 qts) https://amzn.to/3b2trQK
Ford Performance Friction Modifier (for the LSD Diff) https://amzn.to/3PRTsku
Used a local shop to install the new gear and diff inside the third member once it was out of the car.

The car is a 1966 Mustang Coupe with a factory V8 and 4 speed transmission.
