Day 64 in our 36 Classic Grand Banks trawler on the ICW Beaufort, NC to Oriental, NC

Today’s run is a relatively short steam to Oriental North Carolina.
After leaving the marina in Beaufort we headed north into the Newport River and after about 4 miles we entered core creek which is well protected. Core creek then becomes Adams creek, not really sure where the switch is but nevertheless the area is peaceful and scenic. But don't let your guard down because there is commercial traffic using the waterway as well. At this point Adams creek opens up to the Neuse river which can be nasty at times when the wind and current don't cooperate. Oriental harbor is mostly populated with commercial fishing vessels but tucked away in the back is the Oriental Marina and Inn. We arrived early enough to take a dip in the pool and enjoy happy hour at the tiki bar. Tomorrow will be a longer run with about 44 nautical miles we need to put under our keel.
