Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet - How to manually close the soft top | A207 / W207

If the soft top cannot be closed automatically, check the following points:
Is the trunk luggage cover engaged?
Have the head restraints of the rear seats retracted automatically?
Is the on-board electrical system voltage adequate?
Start the engine if necessary.
If the automatic soft top still does not operate, actuate the parking brake.
Remove the key to allow the soft top to be closed manually.
There is a 6 mm Allen key in the folder for the operator's manual.
This is needed several times for manual actuation.
Fetch 2 straps from the spare wheel well to be used later for lifting the soft top compartment lid.
Remove the upper left cover.
The hydraulic unit is behind this.
Turn the valve screw one turn counterclockwise using the Allen key.
The pressure in the hydraulic system must be released for manual soft top actuation.
Then release the hydraulic damper.
Use a knife to cut along the marked trim.
Pull out the lock behind this and turn 90° counterclockwise.
Repeat the procedure on the other side of the trunk.
Turn the lever indicated to release the soft top compartment hinges.
Pull one of the straps tight on the soft top compartment hinge.
Repeat the procedure on the opposite side.
Also lay this strap on the soft top compartment.
Close the trunk.
Ask a colleague to help.
Each person should hold one strap.
Simultaneously pull the soft top compartment lid out and up to the rear until it is vertical.
Reach into the soft top compartment right under the top of the soft top.
Lift out the soft top.
Place it down at the front on the windshield frame.
Continue in the interior.
Detach the cover of the roof lock behind the overhead control panel.
The lock is opened by turning it clockwise with the Allen key.
The hooks on the soft top then fit into the body.
Turn the Allen key counterclockwise and lock the soft top.
Raise the fabric tensioning frame at the rear.
Slowly slide the soft top compartment lid underneath.
Carefully press on the fabric tensioning frame until it engages.
Fully lower the soft top compartment lid with the help of an assistant.
If the trunk can be automatically opened, the procedure was carried out correctly.
Lock the hinges on the soft top compartment lid.
Lock the hydraulic dampers and reseal the hydraulic unit.
