Performed by Raffles Institution (Y5-6) Chinese Orchestra | 12 May 2024 | SOTA Concert Hall

Composed in 2000, this Chinese orchestral concerto for two wind instruments is composed based on a Tajik tribe folksong. In Xinjiang, China, lives the respectable Tajik tribe on the Pamirs. For a thousand years, they have lived among the mountains. The Tajiks are friendly and hospitable, and have a strong passion for song and dance. Having strong admiration for eagles, they make use of eagle bones to construct into flutes that sounds like eagles soaring in the sky. The snows that covers the mountain, wooden huts, hunters, herds of goats and chimneys all come together to form an authentic picture of their tribal life.
