YUYA RECONSTRUCTION FROM EGYPTIAN MUMMY | King Tut's Great Grandfather

YUYA, GREAT GRANDFATHER OF KING TUT, HUSBAND OF TUYA, DIED 1390 BC (AGED 50+-) FATHER OF QUEEN TIYE, ANEN, AND PHARAOH AY.
HE LIVED DURING THE REIGN OF AMENHOTEP III, HE AND TUYA HAD A TOMB IN THE VALLEY OF THE KINGS ALTHOUGH NOT BEING ROYALS. YUYA'S ORIGINS ARE NOT VERY CLEAR, IT IS SUGGESTED HE IS THE BROTHER OF MUTEMWIJA (MOTHER OF AMENHOTEP III) WHO MAY HAVE BEEN FROM MITTANI. OTHER CLUES ON STONE SCARABS DO SUGGEST HE WAS FROM THE MED. SOME HISTORIANS THINK HE AND TUYA WERE OF SEMETIC ORIGINS BASED ON THEIR NAMES AND FEATURES, THEY LIVED IN AKHMIN WHERE MANY IMMIGRANTS HAD MOVED TO. SOME CLUES LEAD US TO BELIEVE THAT THOTHMOSES IV HIRED YUYA FROM THE MED AS HE HAS A GOOD REPUTATION FOR WORKING WITH HORSES.

HIS BA BIRD STATUE GIVES US AN INDICATION OF CLOTHING, AND HE HAVE HIS NECKLACE AND SCARAB PENDANT AS DEPICTED ON THE STATUE.

I have worked on one of the most requested mummy recons, that of Yuya a noble man from the 18th Dynasty. I enjoyed this process, as Yuya has a slight bread and interestingly blonde hair. some suggest the blond hair was bleached when mummification took place, however if we look at his daughter who has much more hair "Queen Tiye" her hair was not bleached from the natron salt process. Therefore I deduce that he really did have blond hair, as we have examples of people with blond hair on tomb walls and even some blond wigs were found! But we are not certain!
