‘Gifted’ vs. ‘Slow’: The Consequences of School Labels

Описание к видео ‘Gifted’ vs. ‘Slow’: The Consequences of School Labels

Did your school have a gifted program? Were you labeled as ‘gifted’ or ‘slow’? Were you jealous of the gifted kids?

In this video I delve into school labels and how school divides us not only by giving into this dangerous idea that our intellectual and academic capability is something innate and that we’re born with, but also by class, disability, and race.

Though gifted programs promise to be objective by analyzing students at birth, in reality, intelligence is not something static, and being set up for academic success is something that's highly subjective. P.S. Thanks to everyone who filled out the survey!
