Grassington, England (Ep 20) Filming All Creatures Great & Small

We visited Grassington in North Yorkshire, England, with our 3 kids. While exploring this picturesque market town, we saw a production crew filming scenes for the show, All Creatures Great & Small. It was fun to see a bit of the filming process.

Grassington has a quaint market square, local shops, and small village community. Near the parking lot, sheep nibbled on long grass. We visited several individually owned shops, where we learned that the storefronts were decorated for filming episodes of All Creatures Great and Small Season 4. The post office was transformed into a convenience store. The local pub was redecorated as the Drover's Arms, as seen in the show. Grassington serves as the fictional village of Darrowby where veterinarian James Harriot lives and serves the community.

We came back on Wednesday to see a glimpse of the filming process. Production crews had their gear spread out in the village square. We watched actors practice individual scenes at least a dozen times. It was fun that the production crew didn't seem to mind onlookers, or even traffic passing through the square, as long as everyone minded their manners.

We gained some appreciation for the detailed work that actors put into perfecting their scenes for a show such as All Creatures Great and Small.

Visiting Grassington with kids was definitely a highlight of our Europe trip and an adventure for our family!
