Green Banana Curry | Simple and Tasty Raw Banana Recipe
Ingredients:
1 green banana (raw banana), sliced and soaked in water
1/4 cup grated coconut
1 large tomato, chopped
1 large onion, sliced lengthwise
2 green chillies, split
Few curry leaves
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
3/4 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp cumin seed powder
3/4 tsp pepper powder
2 1/2 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
1/2 cup + 1/4 cup + 1/4 cup water (adjust based on consistency)
Chopped coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
1. Prep the Banana:
Take a green banana, cut it lengthwise, then slice into pieces.
Soak the banana pieces in water to avoid discoloration.
2. Make Coconut-Tomato Paste:
Blend 1/4 cup grated coconut and 1 chopped tomato with enough water to make a fine paste.
3. Cook Banana:
Heat 2½ tbsp oil in a pan.
Add the banana slices and cook until they are half done. Remove and set aside.
4. Prepare the Masala Base:
In the same pan, heat the leftover oil.
Add 1 tsp mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add sliced onion, split green chillies, and curry leaves. Sauté until onions turn translucent.
5. Add Spices:
Add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste. Sauté for a minute.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin seed powder, and pepper powder. Mix well until raw smell disappears.
6. Make the Gravy:
Pour in the coconut-tomato paste and 1/2 cup water.
Add salt and an additional 1/4 cup water. Stir well, cover, and let it boil.
7. Combine and Cook:
Add the half-cooked banana pieces and another 1/4 cup water.
Mix everything, cover with lid, and cook for 3 more minutes.
8. Finish & Serve:
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot!
Tips:
Add 1/2 cup more water if you prefer more gravy.
Add 2 tomatoes for more tangy flavor.
