Golah Su is now in musth!
This is a hormone change (overload) in male elephants that happens once per year and can last anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months.

When an elephant goes into musth it is not unlike “roid rage”- their hormones go into overdrive and they have the potential to become very dangerous.
Each year in Thailand there are many incidences with bull elephants (both wild and domesticated) going into musth and injuring/killing people and causing a lot of damage.

During this time, for the safety of both people and other elephants, Golah Su will remain on a 20m+ long chain out in the jungle & far away from everyone else.
His keeper and one other person will be with him throughout the day and night and will bring him food and snacks while monitoring his behaviour and health.

Luckily for us, Golah Su is a calm bull, so the risk of danger to his keeper and others is quite low compared to other bulls.
