MiniVersity: Deconstructing The Art Doll with Lillian Bass

This latest MiniVersity session is led by doll artist Lillian Bass from Lilli's Littles based in Vancouver, Washington. For over 20 years, Lillian has been crafting the most beautiful porcelain art dolls in 1/12 scale and was recently recognized as an Artisan Member of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA). In this broadcast, Lillian talks about how she got started making art dolls and how she crafts her small scale characters, the materials she uses and a bit about her process. She also shares her extensive knowledge of category and helps us understand and navigate this complex space which includes dolls made from polymer clay, 3D printed resin, porcelain and other materials and straddles the traditional "doll" and "dollhouse miniatures" worlds. You'll leave this class with a new appreciation for art and character dolls and inspired to consider including them in your miniatures collections and incorporate them into your own miniature worlds.
