Video Transcript:

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors requires contractors in Arizona to post a surety bond as part of the licensing process.

By posting a contractor license bond, contractors agree to adhere to the Arizona Revised Statutes, which involve complying with license standards and fulfilling payments.

Essentially, the bond protects the state and consumers.

Arizona contractor bond amounts can range from $2,500 to $100,000. Your bond amount depends on 2 factors: your license type and your annual volume of work.

For example, contractor Carly needs a bond for her commercial work in the amount of $25,000. If Carly does residential work, too, she must add that classification. The total bond amount for both license classifications is a combination of the two bond amounts. So, if Carly's residential bond amount is $9,000, her total bond amount will be $34,000.

The actual bond cost is subject to underwriting and is based on a number of factors like your financial history and industry experience.
