NEET (UG) - 2020

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organisation for conducting efficient, transparent and international standard test in order to access the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions.

NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) 2020 (NEET (UG) - 2020) will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized Medical/Dental & other Colleges/ Institutes in India.

Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 provides for holding of a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions including those governed under any other law. Thus, the admission to MBBS course in AIIMS, New Delhi, JIPMER and all AIIMS like Institutions will be made through NEET. The eligibility criteria applicable to appear in NEET (UG) shall also be applicable to the candidates desirous to take admission to INIs like AIIMS.

Similarly, the criteria for minimum qualifying marks to be eligible for admission to MBBS course shall also be applicable to INIs. Further, the common counseling for admission to MBBS course in these INIs shall be conducted by the DGHS as per the Time Schedule specified in the MCI’s regulations.

The NEET (UG) - 2020 will be conducted on Sunday, the 13th September, 2020. The responsibility of the NTA is limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and for providing an “All India Rank Merit List” to the Directorate General Health Service, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for providing the result to States/other Counselling Authorities.
NEET 2020 Live Updates: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2020) Undergraduate exam was conducted on Sunday, September 13, 2020, from 2 pm to 5 pm. The medical entrance exam was organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for over 15 lakh candidates. The NEET exam was held following strict precautionary measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to maintain social distancing, the NTA has increased the number of exam centres from originally-planned 2,546 to 3,843, while the number of candidates per room has been reduced from earlier 24 to 12. The NEET 2020 is a pen and paper-based examination. The medical entrance exam has already been deferred multiple times owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. The exam was originally scheduled for May 3, but was pushed to July 26, and then to September 13.

CHEMISTRY - Difficulty level was Easy to Moderate

Physical Chemistry – 15 Questions

Organic Chemistry – 18 Questions

Inorganic Chemistry – 12 Questions

Synopsis: All questions were based on the NCERT textbook. Statements directly taken from the NCERT textbooks. Straightforward questions ; easy to comprehend. One controversial question with more than one correct answer. Not lengthy. Students should have completed the Chemistry part within 45 minutes. Enough time for revision. Barely a few calculations. An average student should have been able to attempt approximately 40 questions with ease. While others could have attempted 44 questions.

BOTANY-  Difficulty level was high in comparison to previous years

25 questions from class XI and 19 from class XII. 1-2 controversial questions with more than one correct answer. Two questions were beyond the NCERT textbooks. Majority of questions were conceptual in nature with a few fact-based questions as well. Not at all lengthy.

ZOOLOGY - Difficulty level was Moderate with a few exceptions.

Multi-conceptual questions requiring incisive thinking and precision. Some questions were tricky; lost in terminology.
