Ice Cream Van Cake Tutorial | Ice Cream Truck | Summer Cake | Cake Decorating Tutorial

First things first.
As a lot of you who are already following my cake decorating videos, you will know that my videos are sped up to save time. No one likes watching 30 min long caking videos. I baked a 9"x 11" choc sponge for this one.

The carving is pretty simple for this cake. Just take out a little at a time.

We made a base board for the van (10cm x 18cm) then let it sit on two choc bars.

Before I stuck the canopy in above the window I stuck a strip of 50/50 Gum paste and sugar paste just above the window for extra support. The canopy and sign board on the floor was made from GP and SP.

For the paints I use sugarflair dusts and sugarflair pastel gels mixed in vodka. The windows were dusted in white dust.

I wasn't too happy with the sign on the other side of the van so I changed it in the end with a strip of fondant and painted it in yellow.

The stand/ supports that were made for the ice cream cone to lie on were made from GP. If this cake is travelling I would suggest to put extra dowels or skewer supports for the cone.

I honestly thought this video would never make it on here. So many interruptions for such a simple cake and it was just being delayed and to top it up FCPX started playing up in the end.
